Reiki is Universal Life-force Energy. ‘Rei’ meaning ‘Universal’ and Ki meaning ‘Life Force Energy’, flowing from all living beings. Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize. Reiki seeks to restore a body’s unbalanced energies such as having a lack of awareness, talking a lot, trust issues, to overwhelming sex life. Everything during a Reiki Session is done purely on an energetic level.

Reiki Healing has several effects:

  1. Heals emotional blockages in the system
  2. Relaxes the mind and the body
  3. Detoxifies the organs

During a Reiki Session, the practitioner places his/her hands right above the recipient’s body. The practitioner’s goal is to restore emotional blockages in the system and bring it into balance. Reiki treatments do not involve actual touching. The practitioner will always place her/her hands a few inches further from the recipient’s body and manipulates the energy field from there. During a Reiki treatment, the patient usually lies fully clothed on a padded table in a warm, comfortable room. For stress reduction, two to three sessions are satisfactory; however, long-term treatment may be recommended for chronic conditions. Due to its gentle nature, many people fall asleep during this soothing experience of healing.

The average time for a reiki session is held for at least 25 – 30mins for stressed patients. The following time duration of the reiki healing session brings about an overall improvement in the recipient’s wellbeing – mental and physical. It clears out the negative energies they possess around their body. However, more time is needed depending on the patient’s condition and mental illnesses they carry with them. The average time for mental chronic diseases is held for 30 – 60 mins.

Distance Reiki can be sent to anyone, anywhere, by using three different symbols, called distance symbols, consisting of ‘Choko- Rai – Level 1, ‘Sei Hei Ki’ – Level 2, and ‘Han Sha Ze Sho Nen’. The term is defined as “Life Force Energy”. When invoked, the symbol is thought to allow the practitioner to send healing Reiki energy across time and space. It allows practitioners to clear blockages of any kind, usually emotional, from someone’s past i.e Trauma from childhood, feeling of uncertainty/ not being able to make decisions, lack of control over things, stress, fear, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, OCD, etc. The Reiki Master performs reiki by sending healing energy to the recipient. A picture of the recipient from head to toe would be sufficient. It does not matter where the recipient is located – reiki energy healing can be sent anywhere.

Shinab Ataf is a passionate Energy Healing Therapist. Before getting attuned to Level 1 and 2, she had been skeptical about Reiki Healing. Before gaining certification, Shinab suffered personal unbalanced chakras in her systems such as frequent swelling and burning sensations in her stomach. She approached different Reiki Healers over the years to fix the problem and to her expectations, it was solved within 2 months. She now counsels and treats patients with Reiki Energy Healing who undergo stress, fear, anxiety, depression to other extreme forms of mental illnesses such as Bipolar and Schizophrenia.
